Royal Caribbean Suite Perks: What They Are Worth in Dollars

The perks are not the same perks

Royal Suite Class runs on the Icon, Oasis, Quantum and Quantum Ultra class ships, which is every ship built since 2009; older ships use a separate Royal Caribbean Suites Program. Sea Class is the Junior Suite. Star Class is the Royal Loft, Ultimate Family Suite and the other top categories. It adds a Royal Genie, a complimentary Deluxe Beverage Package for adults and a Refreshment Package for underage guests, complimentary gratuities, VOOM for one device per guest, complimentary dining at most specialty venues, lounge cocktails from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, laundry and a stocked minibar. So the CruiseHive family's math only works in Sky or Star. A Junior Suite guest who does the same sums finds nothing to add up, and nothing to subtract either.

The cost side nobody puts in the stack

Most suites carry a higher daily gratuity, but not all. Royal's FAQ lists $21.00 per guest per day for suites and $18.50 for every other category, and when it set those rates in November 2024 it defined standard inventory as "Junior Suites, Balcony, Ocean View, and Interior staterooms," with the suite rate applying to Sky Junior Suites, Grand Suites and above. That is $2.50 a day, or $17.50 per person over 7 nights, on every Sky Class suite. A Sea Class Junior Suite pays the standard rate. Star Class is the only tier where Royal covers it. The awkward case is the Sky Junior Suite: it pays the suite rate and Royal excludes it from the VOOM perk, so its stack is the lounge cocktails less $17.50, with no internet line.

What each perk is worth at published prices

I have priced each perk at what you would pay Royal for the same thing. Internet and cocktails sit at the low end of their published ranges, so those lines are floors. The Deluxe package I price at the middle of its range, because its low and high ends are more than double apart, and I show both ends below.

VOOM. Royal sells one plan, Surf + Stream, per device. Pre-cruise rates cited run from about $20.99 to $29.02 a day depending on ship and sale, and onboard rates from about $28 to $38.70 for a single device; a 7-night single-device plan bought onboard Star of the Seas in February 2026 was $230.93, or $32.99 a night. I use $21 a day, or $147 for the week, per person. If you would have bought onboard, the perk is worth $230.93.

Suite Lounge cocktails. Most cocktails on Royal run $13 to $14 before the 18 percent gratuity that Royal adds to every beverage purchase, and the Deluxe package's own per-drink cap is $14. A $13 cocktail bills at $15.34. The lounge is an evening window, so I have run it at one, two and three drinks a night rather than pretending it replaces a drink package.

The Deluxe Beverage Package. Royal prices it dynamically, roughly $56 to $115 a person a day depending on ship and sailing, with 18 percent added at checkout. At $85, roughly the midpoint of that range, the package is $100.30 a day all-in, or $702.10 for the week. That figure only belongs in your stack if you would have bought the package anyway. Someone who drinks two cocktails a day was never going to, and for them the perk is worth whatever their bar tab would have been.

Gratuities in Star Class. The saving is measured against what a balcony guest pays. A balcony guest pays $18.50 a day, so Star Class saves $129.50 per person for the week.

Coastal Kitchen. I have valued it at zero, which will annoy some suite regulars. It is a restaurant with no cover charge. Royal's benefit list says drinks there are not included for Sea and Sky Class guests. Unless you were going to buy a specialty dining package and now will not, it changes what you eat, not what you spend.

The perk value per person, 7 nights

Sky Class moves with the lounge. At one cocktail a night the net is $236.88; at three it is $451.64. For a couple, that is roughly $474 to $903 of the Grand Suite premium paid back over the week. A couple who does not drink and shares one internet plan is closer to $112.

Star Class moves with the drink package. The $978.60 assumes you would have bought Deluxe at $85. Run the same adult at the $56 low end of the range and the net drops to $739.06; at $115 it rises to $1,226.40. A non-drinker in Star Class banks $276.50, and $129.50 if they would have skipped the internet too. Two drinking adults are looking at about $1,957 before you count a single specialty dinner, which I have left out because I have not priced the cover charges here and I would rather give you a floor than a guess.

A child in a Star Class suite gets the Refreshment Package, which lists at $29 to $42 a day before the 18 percent. At the low end that is $239.54 for the week, and again only if you would have bought it.

Why the family in the article came out even

The commenter CruiseHive quoted was a family of four in a Grand Suite counting four internet accounts, no drink package and no dining package. Four VOOM plans at my floor rate are $588 for the week. Their "no drink package" line only counts as a saving if they were going to buy one, and in Sky Class the free drinks are an evening lounge window rather than a package, so I would not put more than the lounge figure on it. Their dining line is Coastal Kitchen, which I value at zero.

With two adults at three lounge cocktails a night on top, that gets a family of four to somewhere between $588 and about $1,232 of perk value, less $70 in extra gratuities. Whether that makes the upgrade "negligible" depends entirely on a number the article gives no way to check: what their Grand Suite cost over two connecting rooms. On some sailings that gap is smaller than the perks. On others it is far larger, and only their own quote settles it.

How to use this with the calculator

Our cabin upgrade analyzer asks for one input it cannot look up for you, the dollar gap between the two cabins. It then scores that gap against your itinerary and nights. Feed it the gross fare gap and it will understate a Sky or Star suite, because it has no way to know the fare bought back your internet and your bar tab.

So do this instead. Take the suite fare minus the balcony fare for the whole cabin. Subtract the net perk value for every person in the cabin from the table above. Enter what is left as the price delta.

An example, using a made-up gap: a couple quoted a Grand Suite at $2,000 more than a balcony on a 7-night sailing, two cocktails each in the lounge, both wanting internet. Perks are $688.52 for the two of them, so the net delta is $1,311.48, which is $187.35 a night for the cabin or $93.68 per person per night. That is the figure the analyzer should judge, not $2,000.

The bottom line

A Junior Suite on Royal Caribbean is space and a nicer bathroom, with nothing priced coming back, so its fare gap has to justify itself. Sky Class returns about $237 to $452 per person in internet and lounge drinks after the $17.50 gratuity bump. Star Class returns roughly $979 per adult if you would have bought the Deluxe package, and $130 to $277 if you would not have. Subtract the right figure from your fare gap before you decide, and judge the suite on what is left.
